Serenata refers to the act of singing in the open air…and though it may not be possible for this occasion, the name reflects the origins of our group, and the music we bring to you. Serenata is a quartet of four local singers—Miriam Davidson, Melissa Howell, Andrea Unrau, and Lia Wolfe (who does double-duty as pianist for the group). During the Christmas season, we sing together in two of the Lower Mainland's premiere a cappella caroling groups—the Angelus Singers and the Caminando Carolers. We missed singing together in harmony so much that we decided to form Serenata. We have discovered that there is so much music for the sirens of the sea, from Canadian choral gems, to Broadway, to jazz. Having spent much of our lives in Vancouver, we all have fond memories of the many treasures of Steveston, from the abundant seafood, to the beautiful ocean view, the tall ships, and strolls through Garry Point Park. This festival gives us an opportunity to collaborate and explore new songs, because conversing through music is what musicians do. target="_blank">youtube facebook instagram
