Seagal the Seagull
Nicholas is delighted to return to the festival, this time with wings …as our newly feathered puppet friend: Segal the Seagull. He created this year’s contribution in a ramshackle Geppetto’s-Workshop of a home, just up the road, here, in Steveston. This award-winning writer/musician/designer has created foam/wire/maché characters since his teens, in London, including: 2 Flamingo Croquet Mallets, a disappearing Chechire Cat, all 7 Dwarves, Rumpelstiltskin, Raven, Wolf and Whale for Minico at the Edinborough Theatre. Nick’s puppets have appeared in various (and very odd) films including ‘Hipsters in Space’, ‘Drinking for Dinner’, and ‘Donald & Hillary’s Christmas Carol’ (featuring: Seán Cullen). Ontario’s Red Barn Theatre featured Nick’s 4 Baby puppets for Robert More’s ‘Dads, The Musical’ shortly before succumbing to fire; the Baby Puppets were considered ‘mischievous’ …but were not ultimately held responsible for the blaze.
